Question:
The issues of abuse in childhood I understand totally skews my coping
skills (ha! what is cope?)
I've just entered my 50's and I have a host of autoimmune diseases. One
is Rheumatoid Arthritis which there is documented medical research
linking stress to development of autoimmune disease.
Prior to the onset of the disease and my disability I was working with a
boss that was physically abusive (would kick desks - slam his fist onto
desks, slam doors, etc.) He would become angry and scream at his
employees and belittle them in front of the group. Needless to say -
when he began doing that to me - I became a child again and he was the
offender of my childhood - I did go to therapy for it and learned to
speak out against him and turn him in (which of course did no good). I'd
already been there three years and one morning I couldn't get up my
stairs anymore which led to the diagnosis.
I was wondering if anyone else has ended up with autoimmune disease due
to unrelenting stress.
Answer:
I have met a lot of women who were raped, and all of us have so-called
'female troubles' which have led to hysterectomies. And, as my Dad was a
dentist, I am not surprised that good oral health is a goal, not an
achievement; I am in my 60s and still have a problem with cavities!!!
And, of course, I have had osteoarthritis since I was in my 20s. As well
as thyroid insufficiency, which is also linked to emotional troubles.
I belive that PTSD leads to a lot of physical problems as our bodies work
out the traumas in our minds.
Years ago in this NG someone found an article that outlined with PTSD that
the body kept the score and when unrelenting stress occurred bit by bit the
body would become 'sick' . There are someothers similar such as Louise Hayes
'Heal your Body'.
It is an interesting concept.
I have a remedy that has worked every one that has tried it. I grew up with
the mouth ulcers. Very painful! A lady I worked with said that she used
Rembrandt Complete (Fresh Mint Flavor) Premium Whitening Toothpaste with
Fluoride.
It has worked ever since. My family has this issue and now no one has a
problem with it.
Thank goodness! It is a little more expensive, but for me, it is much more
comfortable
than those sores.
if you get into a money pinch, you can use myhrr powder. most herbal shops
will carry it--i'm bigtime into herbs. (make my own cough syrups,
tinctures, etc.) but myhrr is antibacterial & antiviral, works great for
mouth ulcers. (i have autoimmune problems and a lot of times get so many
sores in my mouth that i spit blood for days) but the myhrr powder heals
everything within 24 hours.
