I'm looking into porcelain veneers for stained teeth from flouride or high fevers for my child. I would appreciate any information.
Porcelain veneers ar a widely accepted way of improving cosmetics. They are being used to correct "bad" alignment or to mask heavily stained teeth. The advantage is that this method is considered to be conservative, which means that only a small amount of enamel will have to be removed from the teeth in question; the veneers will be cemented onto the etched tooth structure with a dental cement( "glue"). The cements presently available are composite( "plastic") materials, which will not break down in the oral environment. Check with your dentist( some dentists are specialized in cosmetic dentistry).From a dentists standpoint the procedure is fairly simple and the results are usually very satisfying.
